BUILDING YOUR WORDPRESS WEBSITE

Instead of paying $1500+ for someone to build your site, come to this class and learn how to build and manage it yourself! Learn to build and update your site using the WordPress platform, where knowing and/or using code is unnecessary.

In this workshop, you will walk away with

– a functional website with a Home page, About Us page, and Contact Us page;

– the ability to add/edit/remove pages and blog posts to your site;

– the knowledge of how to add to, remove from, or change the following in your site: photos, slide shows, social media icons, contact pages and more;

– an understanding of how to optimize (SEO) your site including Titles, metadata, Headers (H1s and H2s), and more.

This class assumes you have little to no experience building a WordPress website. We will help you find your URL, get your hosting started, and help you design a website that speaks to your target audience. We will give you the tools to make sure that the search engines can find your site.

This class is very “hands-on” and involves homework in between the two days the workshop is delivered.

Prerequisites for this class are below. Please have all of the following before enrolling:

1)  a working knowledge of using basic software programs like Microsoft Word (or similar), Microsoft Excel (or similar), and email

2) familiarity with using “drag and drop” (i.e. move one file into another using your mousepad)

3) a laptop computer with an updated (current) operating system. You must bring the laptop to class to build your website (if you don’t have one, we can rent one to you; please inquire before enrolling). No tablets or smartphones.

4) familiarity with using search engines like Google or bing
